Even if you turn on the air conditioner on all night or use the timer, do you still have trouble sleeping or wake up in the middle of the night because of the heat?
During tropical nights, the possibility of having heatstroke is said to be high not only because of the outdoor temperature but also because the indoor temperature is high. The heat can also disturb sleep which affects the physical condition.
A comfortable room temperature and humidity are important for a peaceful tropical night.
Set the temperature above 28 ºC and reduce the humidity to 50 - 60% during dehumidification. By lowering the humidity, only the sensible temperature is lowered without overcooling the body. This way, sweat immediately dries up as well which makes it easier to sleep.
The amount of sweat increases immediately after going to bed. However, by cooling the room with a timer, the humidity is also controlled and sweat immediately dries up as well which makes it easier to sleep.
If "off timer" is set to 3 hours, 2 cycles of deep sleep* can be secured immediately after falling asleep without being disturbed by temperature changes. This allows a stable deep non-REM sleep in the first half of the sleep period.
Enjoying the feeling of a good rest depends on how comfortable you feel when you wake up in the morning.
If sweat from sleeping makes your body sticky and uncomfortable immediately after waking up, it is a good idea to set the “on timer" on the air conditioner according to the time you wake up.
The answers to “do you have difficulties of sleeping when it’s hot even though you’re using air conditioners?” were “Yes – 17.1%” and “sometimes – 45.9%”, so more than 60% of respondents indicating that they felt it was too hot to sleep.
Furthermore, the answers to “sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night because of the heat” were “Yes - 14.2%" and "sometimes - 47.0%“, so nearly 60% of the respondents experienced having difficulty sleeping while waking up.
It became clear that there were many people who could not sleep in the bedroom on a summer night or wake up in the middle of the night so they could not sleep well. The fact that people do not feel the heat and sleep well while using their air conditioner suggests that they weren’t able to use the air conditioner in a better way.

Furthermore, when we examined how many people experienced ‘It’s too hot to fall asleep.‘ with each type of air conditioner, we found that more than half experienced “It’s hot and I can‘t sleep” with all types of air conditioners. Majority of them use timers but the result says using timers does not lead to good sleep perfectly and seems additional arrangement is needed. For a pleasant summer night's sleep, it might be a good idea to review how you use your air conditioner.
